I am the current President of the Singapore chapter. As a non-profit and a leading Project Management association, we need to increase our industry engagement while maintain prudent, efficient operations. One of the first thing to do is to build a strong and cohesive team to lead the Singapore chapter forward into the future with succession planning for all office positions. The team needs to feel connected and support each other. I will work with PMI APAC to build a strong project management and leadership culture within the team. And remove all potential roadblocks. The team must be empowered to achieved agreed upon goals. Secondly outreach to the chapter members will be one of my priorities. We are a membership driven chapter and we need to get more members to come forward to attend events, volunteer and provide feedback to the Exco for improvement to our member services. Last year we had a successful volunteer drive by the Volunteer and the Academic Outreach Portfolios. Thirdly outreach to other associations, PMI chapters, industry organizations, government agencies in Singapore and outside Singapore to maintain the status and relevancy of PMI as the voice of Project Management. I will continue to build upon the successful programs such as POY and MIIP. In addition to creating new ones. Fourth area is to continue the successful Governance program that we have put in. Last year we revised the bylaws with approval from members and ROS. We also wrote SOPs for all relevant positions.

Alicja Kocanda

Alicja Kocańda

Welcome back!

I am a culturally astute PMP with multifaceted, cross-functional experience, who made Singapore her home in 2013. As a natural organiser - detail oriented and acutely aware of cause and effect - bridging subject matter experts and business development or sales has been prevalent throughout my career. Effective communication granted me access to influence C-suite decision makers and engage stakeholders throughout organisations. Breadth of international experience and exposure to multiple industries lets me empathise and appreciate different viewpoints. People feel at ease working with me and entrust with sensitive activities. After advancing to VP in 2021-22 term, I successfully oversaw communications and facilitated onboarding of the new director for the membership & mentoring portfolio (a new volunteer will need help onboarding & guidance again this term). I pioneered the Symposium as hybrid event with extensive SMM in place. Moreover, made sure to engage volunteers like you to make it happen instead of hiring an expensive events company. This project was recognised with the PMI Bright-Innovation Award for the Chapter in our region. People know me for turning challenges into opportunities and enabling this mega-event to be attended in-person & virtually based on your comfort level was thrilling. What is more, one of my goals was to preserve socially responsible notification strategy and focus on the big picture to avoid random messaging. I hope you enjoy the structured delivery. Lastly, I keep advocating for the e-voting so all of our Members can have an equal say in matters that are relevant.

LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/kocanda

Thank you for the opportunity to apply for re-election. As Vice President, I was fortunate to have visibility into every portfolio. I had built on my previous two-term experience when I was leading comms & marketing covering all areas and genuinely pleased to continue the effort given I still have plenty to offer to our community if elected VP again. Contribution will revolve around the following: • Evolve best practices, especially in membership & mentoring, communication and collaborative events. • Facilitate events management - I enjoy supporting people organise and have been doing so in various countries I lived in. Regular meeting opportunities enable networking and creating a feeling of community and belonging. Members want to keep learning, so we keep you connected. Produced multiple virtual events for Members, potential members, including webinars and Symposium. • Maintain structured omni-channel presence. As lead on comms, drove engagement with our originally fledgeling LinkedIn page to ~ 6100 followers, actively reaching out to connect PMs with our networking profile to boost your network and search quality. Many are looking for employment and this is one way of supporting. Our LinkedIn group is growing, with smaller targeted groups for customised conversations. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter & Google are up to speed. Looking forward to exploring further development. • I guarantee maintaining a socially responsible notification strategy and keeping Members informed in a coordinated, planned manner, which requires forethought. • Contribute to Symposium 2022 again in hybrid setup since we have the know-how. Members get priority booking and volunteering opportunities.

I am currently the Assistant Treasurer of the Singapore chapter. Firstly, I want to ensure the financial aspects of the chapter are well run and maintained. This involves regular effort to keep on top of the source documents for all financial transactions and working collaboratively and effectively with all other executive committee members. The chapter's membership place great trust in the executive committee to make prudent financial decisions on their behalf and the treasury has a key role to play in this stewardship. Secondly, the treasury needs to efficiently assist the other committee members with the financial aspects of running the many membership events the chapter runs for and on-behalf of the membership. This financial facilitation is key to the chapter being able to put on and run many different events throughout the course of the executive committee term. In addition, having been involved in other aspects of the chapter, such as chairing last year's independent constitutional review committee, I intend to continue to support in whatever way I can other aspects of the chapter's operation and to review or contribute to other initiatives during the next executive committee term of office.

Qualifications for Chapter Treasurer:

In the last executive committee term I have been directly involved in the financial administration of the chapter as the assistant treasurer. This has given me a good understanding of the nature of the chapter's financial operations and the key areas for on-going maintenance and improvement. In addition, in my day job I am the head of the tax change programme at standard chartered bank. In this role I am responsible for the financial affairs of the programme, with a budget between USD 5m to 15m pa. Also, as part of my day job, I have over the last 5 years project or programme managed major financial projects to successful delivery, including delivering VAT compliance in multiple middle-east markets. Recently, I have headed up the change delivery roll-out of a Group IFRS tax reporting system that covers the entire standard chartered bank global footprint of c. 60 countries.

Thank you for this opportunity. I'm eager to actively contribute to the project management community, and am grateful to have served as Honorary Auditor in the previous Executive Committee. I hope to carry forward the risk control elements and insights gained into the next Executive Committee, and apply the lessons learned in partnership with the next auditor(s). If given the opportunity to continue serving, I look forward to working with my fellow esteemed Executive Committee members to engage with our fellow members to further rediscover and meet their needs. A key goal of my term would be to increase the value of the PMI Singapore Chapter membership for the average individual, as well as the value of PMI's certifications in the community. One approach would be to broaden the utility of the Chapter as a gateway for professional development, perhaps exploring new exciting pathways into areas such as blockchain and fintech. The Chapter has a broad demographic of professionals with a variety of skills and backgrounds, so creating opportunities for "cross-pollination" and networking would also be immensely valuable. Another, would be to further evangelize project management toolkits to new segments in the community who might benefit from the training, skills and certifications PMI has to offer. This could be achieved through partnerships with other associations and communities of practice.
