A group of professionals met recently at a PMI Singapore Chapter session to analyse what challenges and obstacles we face in the project management space. One of the prevailing issues was how to be more effective in the way we manage projects. How do we move away from traditional ways when becoming agile could optimise the way we deliver value to our stakeholders?


Objectives:

This session focuses on the soft aspects that maximise the result from Agile Transformation, rather than the mechanics of tools such as JIRA, Confluence.


Learning Outcomes: 

  • Transitioning successfully to agile for Application Development

  • Cascading Agile successfully throughout the organisation

  • Building a personal Agility mindset.

About the Speaker:

Weng Kit

Weng Kit coaches companies in deploying agile framework to produce transformational results.

He coaches scrum teams, training & guiding them to transform from traditional waterfall approach to agile delivery, running scrum process to drive fast delivery and seamless collaboration between product owners and developers

At Prudential Assurance, Weng Kit led business agility and design sprint initiatives. He was a design thinking facilitator for several external events, his work upskilled innovation capabilities for external organisations and tertiary institutions. He led a business agility initiative (team of 7) to complete a target operating model 1st iteration within 5 work-days. He was also involved in a project to reengineer the insurance product development process, thus having an insight into the issues.

At Pegasystems, Weng Kit applied his product owner skills to work for a telecom organisation in crafting user stories and acceptance criteria for deal pursuit and a proof of concept, working with system architects and UX designers.

Weng Kit’s greatest strengths lie in Being Agile (mindset & values) – from creating food concepts, experimenting test & learn, he embraces agile. As a thought leader, his LinkedIn postings on agility are well received. His stakeholders and clients commented that his work shows ”passion, empathy, customer values & stakeholder engagement & collaboration”.

Weng Kit’s company history (over 20 years) includes Prudential Assurance, Pegasystems, Fuji Xerox Global Services Asia Pacific, Oracle Asia Pacific, SAP Singapore and Accenture. His client experiences include HSBC, GE Healthcare, Loreal, etc.

His certifications and course completions include SAFE Agile Consultant, Certified Scrum Master, and Certified Agile Coach & Facilitator, Design Thinking. He is a certified Pegasystems business architect. He is also a certified ASQ six sigma black belt and lean leader.


About the Event Hosts:

Kevin Chua (LinkedIn)

Kevin ChuaKevin Chua has over 5 years of project management experience across various industries including telecommunications, material testing and air-conditioning.

His decision to focus on project management came in 2017 and since then, embarked on a learning journey over the last 4 years.

Kevin is now a Project Manager as well as a Disciplined Agile Champion with PMI Singapore Chapter and currently co-leads the Professional Development Portfolio as well.

 

Jeff Lim (LinkedIn)

Jeff Lim

Jeff Lim has over 8 years of project management experience in the realm of telecommunications.

His journey towards project management came in an unexpected way in 2011 and he has been on a lifelong learning journey ever since.

Jeff is now an Assistant Manager working on Operational Excellence in a local SME and currently leads the Disciplined Agile SIG Portfolio with PMI Singapore Chapter. He is also the co-lead for the Professional Development Portfolio and works together as a close-knit team with Kevin.
