Webinar: Harmonising Success - Transformative Impact of EQ on Project Mgt
(Webinar) Harmonising Success: Transformative Impact of Emotional Intelligence on Project Management
Emotional Intelligence (EQ) refers to a person's ability to recognise, understand, manage and effectively use their own emotions while also being attuned to the emotions of others. The ability to navigate the complex and dynamic nature of project environments requires Project Managers (PM) to understand as well as to positively manage the impact of EQ on their projects by better management of:
Conflicts - constructively finding common ground and facilitating resolution
Stakeholders - effectively navigating through complex relationships among various stakeholders (with their own interests & emotions) in a manner which addresses the concerns and expectations of all stakeholders
Risks – proactively anticipate and mitigate potential issues by being sensitive to stakeholder uneasiness
Decision-making – modulating PM’s own emotions and biases resulting in more rational and objective decisions, even in high-pressure situations
Team Communication and Collaboration – creating/maintaining a positive, resilient team environment by understanding the needs, concerns and motivations of team members
Leadership and Motivation – understanding individual emotional drivers as well team dynamics will lead to higher team morale and productivity
Project management can be stressful, with tight deadlines and high stakes. While hard skills are necessary, the impact of EQ is often underestimated. Fortunately, EQ can be developed and it is a crucial skill to possess as it contributes to the overall success of a project.
