Topic #1: Sustainability in the Built Environment | Ms Ternasser Chwee

The Circularity Gap Report 2023 reported a declining circularity rate, from 9.1% in 2018 to 7.2% in 2023, indicating increased reliance on virgin materials and an increasing circularity gap. This decline is primarily attributed to escalating material extraction and usage, which in just six years has surpassed the total material consumption of the entire 20th century.

This prompted the urgency in transitioning from the linear "take-make-waste" model to circular economy as it has led to the breaches of the planetary boundaries, pushing the planet towards irreversible environmental damage.

Ms Ternasser Chwee holds the position of Director, Head of Sustainability & Business Advisory for Singapore at Asia Infrastructure Solutions, where she is dedicated in providing bespoke sustainability advisory solutions and consultancy services to clients. Committed to delivering high-quality work, she has supported clients through major transactions in her role as a technical advisor to investors, financial institutions, fund managers, private equity funds and financiers. This includes providing net zero carbon assessments, ESG audits, green building assessments, carbon management, climate risk assessments, environmental & social due diligence, and LCCA (Life Cycle Cost Assessment). With over two decades of experience in the real estate and infrastructure sector across Asia, Ternasser possesses a wealth of experience across varied domains and diverse asset classes, extending from mixed-use developments to commercial, residentials, data centres, IT Parks, SEZs and port infrastructures."

Topic #2: What’s Next for Singapore in Food Waste Management? | Mr Preston Wong

In 2022, Singapore generated over 813,000 tonnes of food waste, a near 10% increase from pre-pandemic levels. Join Preston as he takes us through why food waste remains such a big challenge to tackle for society, how his company treatsure set out to get everyone to treat food as treasure and what's next for Singapore in food waste management.

Mr Preston Wong is the CEO & Co-founder of treatsure, an app technology company helping to reduce food waste in hotels, grocers and retailers. Trained in law, accountancy and environmental management at NUS, Preston is also an adjunct faculty and lecturer for sustainability law at Yale-NUS College and SMU. In 2023, Preston was conferred the inaugural Leader of the Year Award at the UOB-Business Times Sustainability Impact Awards. He has also been appointed an ASEAN Youth Fellow and a Youth Panel Lead to provide sustainability policy recommendations for Singapore's Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment.
