Webinar: Managing Complexity, Not People: Agile Ways of Leadership
Managing Complexity, not People: Agile Ways of Leadership
In many instances, modern management theories and practices were essentially derived from insights and learnings made in factories and plants more than a hundred years ago. With knowledge-based industries and the increasingly unpredictable nature of Customers and Workers, many of these management beliefs are beginning to falter and, in many cases, fail.
When access to knowledge was limited and skilful workers were scarce, the scientific or bureaucratic approach to management was easily implementable and results were highly predictable.
However, with easy knowledge access (the Internet) and higher education, Workers are no longer the ‘dutiful’ or ‘obedient’ group they once were. Hence, this leads to all manners of complexities and intricacies while working in modern organisations, of which most of us are familiar with.
In this interactive session, learn a different approach to leading people through Complexity-thinking and the Management 3.0 principles and practices. You will also understand why coaching and facilitation are fast-becoming core managerial skills for complex working environments and how to view people development as a dynamic and long term endeavour, rather than a “transformative” initiative.
Learning Outcomes:
- Understand why working in complex environments requires a different approach and mindset to leadership and management;
- Learn why active coaching and facilitation skills are essential requirements for project leaders and managers especially in increasingly complex workplaces;
- Use at least one practical Management 3.0 tool in the workplace.
Presentation and Discussion Method:
Interactive webinar via Zoom using virtual collaborative whiteboard (Miro).
