Against the context of Industrial Revolution 4.0, industry is being disrupted by data analytics, automation, machine learning and artificial intelligence (“AI”). Big data analytics and AI-driven applications in industry, government and academia is transforming the nature of our industrial landscape across the US, Europe, Australia and now in Singapore.  New forms of analytics-driven products and services have emerged in areas such as manufacturing, banking and finance and healthcare. Just as IBM’s Watson has disrupted the banking and healthcare industries, Ross the so-called “AI lawyer” has even begun to disrupt the legal industry which in the past seem insulated from the force of technology disruption. What is the future of work and education going to be like?  In this presentation, the speaker will survey the technology landscape and analyse the impact of data analytics, automation, machine learning and AI in the workplace and the future of education. The speaker will peek into the future where AI-driven chatbots enabled by advanced data analytics can fundamentally transform the human facing service industry. When more complex data collection is made easier and “intelligent” data crunching can be done faster and at much lower cost, what kind of challenges will impact professionals working in “smart” digital economy of the future? Will the deployment of advanced analytics and artificial intelligence enable higher value creation in the workplace? Is workforce displacement inevitable? In particular, how do we prepare project management practitioners for this new world?
